Oklahoma First Responder Wellness Division
Jenna has been with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics since 2000 when she began her dispatcher career and became an agent in 2007. Jenna worked in Oklahoma City until 2014 and was promoted to a Regional Agent, where she had the opportunity to go back to Southwest OK, where she grew up. In 2017, Jenna received Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training to become a peer for OBN. She has also received training in Police Suicide Awareness. In July 2022, Jenna became the full-time Peer Team Coordinator for OBN and was assigned to the Oklahoma First Responder Wellness Division. She has been a peer at numerous Post Critical Incident Seminars (PCIS) in Oklahoma, and has led numerous debriefs for critical incidents throughout the state. Jenna has also served as a peer with Support Services for the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S) at National Police Week in Washington DC where she worked with families and coworkers of fallen officers. Jenna has also been a mentor at COPS Young Adult Kids Camp for the children of fallen officers.
Throughout her time as a peer, she has learned that no one is alone, and it is not a sign of weakness to ask for help. From her personal experience and the darkest time in her life, she knows she would not be where or who she is today without facing her problems and realizing she needed help. As most do, Jenna hid her feelings, told everyone she was fine, and didn’t deal with the things that were causing her anger and depression. Jenna didn’t like the person she had become, and knew she was the only one who could do something about it. Jenna is not ashamed to tell her story, or that she continues to see a counselor because she is not weak, she is human. Jenna knows that she cannot help anyone if she is not taking care of herself and emptying her own bucket. She is also not ashamed to talk about her faith in God and how her prayers with him led her to where she is today.
Jenna is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in counseling to become a Licensed Professional Counselor, and her goal is to continue to work with First Responders once she has completed her degree.
